Set on the edge of the Yorkshire Wolds in the heart of North Yorkshire countryside, these holiday cottages were converted from an 18th century granary where the harvest from the old farm at Low Penhowe was stored and the cattle milked. The cottages have been awarded the Gold Award in the Green Tourism Business Scheme and have stunning views to Castle Howard, the White Horse at Kilburn and the North York Moors. The grounds are about 5 acres with chickens, ducks and a small herd of Highland cattle. Guests are welcome to bring their horses (grazing available), and help feed the chickens and collect eggs. Things to see and do include stately homes such as Castle Howard and many NT and English Heritage sites. The owners pride themselves on a ’warm welcome’ and are discreetly available should you need anything during your stay. Fresh farm eggs, a pint of milk and a bottle of wine in the fridge are only the beginnings of a memorable holiday. Shop 5 miles, pub 1.5 miles.
