It is ideally located for visiting the medieval city of York, 4 miles, with its magnificent minister, Jorvik Centre and National Railway Museum. There are numerous attractions to suit all ages with river boat trips, ghost walks, theatres and racecourse, as well as an excellent choice of shops, bars and restaurants. Easily accessible are the glorious Yorkshire Dales, the North Yorkshire Moors, with its famous steam railway from Pickering, 28 miles, and the Heritage Coastline with the traditional resorts of Scarborough, Whitby and Filey. The National Trust houses of Beningbrough Hall, 4 miles, and Nunnington Hall, 15 miles, provide interesting days out and the stately home at Castle Howard, 16 miles, is not to be missed. The owner teaches line dancing and is happy to offer lessons to guests. Shops 300 yards, restaurant and pub 150 yards.
