These two comfortable holiday cottages on the traditional Scottish Arbigland Estate are all within a few minutes walk of the beach. Powillimount Cottage (ref 25419) is 300 yards from the beach, and West Lodge, (ref 25420) is 700 yards. They are situated on the 2000 acre estate with its outstanding natural beauty and rich diversity of wildlife. The estate forms part of the Nith Estuary Special Area of Conservation and Upper Solway SSSI. Powillimount beach at the southern end of the estate is popular with families and renowned for the limestone arch known as the Thirlstane. Wildlife is abundant including red squirrels, roe deer, brown hares, the natterjack toad and, more rarely, otters, with seals and dolphins spotted out to sea. Many walks available with a network of footpaths around the estate including a farm trail. Dumfries and Galloway is ideal for cycling and mountain biking with Dalbeattie and Mabie 7 Stanes only 8 miles away. Golf nearby, as are fishing and bird watching reserves. Shop 6 miles
