Aptly named, The Run was formerly used in the herding up of wildlife, and enjoys a unique position, offering peace and tranquillity with neighbouring woodland and privately owned broad nearby (fishing licences are available locally for maximum of 2 rods in seasonal times). A holiday paradise for nature lovers and bird-watchers, the broad is alive with ducks, geese, swans and a host of other bird life including spoonbills and herons (closed October-April to allow undisturbed nesting of wildlife).
Located in the heart of the Norfolk Broads, Horning village lies less than 1 mile distant for shops, pubs and leisure centre. For family fun, BeWILDerwood Adventure Park is close by. Wroxham (3 miles) offers waterside cafés, restaurants, shops, railway station and other amenities, and the city of Norwich (10 miles) has excellent shopping and market place, fine restaurants, theatre, castle museum and cathedral. Nearby, the popular resorts of Cromer and Sheringham offer lovely beaches together with markets, golf courses, family entertainment and good fishing. Sheringham also boasts over 700 acres of National Trust parkland, and is the terminus for the North Norfolk Steam Railway. The Norfolk Broads are alive with wildlife and offer over 200 miles of navigable rivers and waterways, and day launch and boat trips are available locally to explore the famous waterways and pretty Broadland villages.
