Tucked away on the edge of the historic Georgian market town of Holt, just a few miles inland from the North Norfolk Coast with its sandy beaches, RSPB nature and bird reserves, this is a perfect holiday retreat for larger groups, ideal for relaxing and entertaining with family and friends. A converted barn, it offers spacious and comfortable accommodation with a beamed interior, wood-burning stove, limestone floors and a well-equipped farmhouse kitchen with granite work surfaces. Outside there is a sheltered private patio seating area equipped with table, chairs and a gas barbecue. Set within landscaped grounds with an unfenced natural wildlife pond, the holiday property is within walking distance of Holt, with its many attractive buildings and back streets leading to courtyards with their cafés and array of local shops. The town is served by a unique horse drawn coach service known as ‘The Holt Flyer’ connecting the railway station to the town, about ¾ miles away at Kelling. The North Norfolk Railway runs along the Norfolk coast to Sheringham. Excellent walking is on the doorstep, with designated footpaths and Holt Country Park, a tranquil setting of almost 100 acres of mature woodland adjoining heath land and River Glaven with its way marked walks. Cley-next-the-Sea and Blakeney Quay are 5 miles away, whilst Wells-next-the-Sea and Holkham, for excellent sandy beaches, are 12 miles away. Norwich, with its excellent shopping, cathedral, castle museum, and restaurants, is within an hour’s drive. Charm and character combined with the best of modern living are what makes The Cart Lodge such a pleasant place to stay. All the traditional features of a renovated north Norfolk barn, such as beamed, vaulted ceilings and brick and flint stone walls, blend harmoniously with the contemporary fittings. Shops and pub ¼ mile.
