Longcutts Barn was originally built in the 16th century and was one of the main barns of a large working farm situated in the village of Winfrith Newburgh. This converted barn has wonderful large rooms which makes it ideal for entertaining, and also has two welcoming fires - a traditional wood-burning stove in the living room and a wood-fired ceramic heater (decorative only) in one of the bedrooms. Guests can also enjoy a sheltered, sunny garden.
Winfrith Newburgh is a traditional Dorset village (mentioned in the Domesday Book) that stretches for a mile or so and includes a pub, village shop, a cricket pitch and church. The village lies just a few miles from the dramatic Purbeck Heritage coastline which includes the delightful beaches at Durdle Door, Lulworth Cove, Studland and Warbarrow Bay. Dotted around the area are a number of charming villages such as Corfe Castle. The town of Swanage is a typical seaside town with its Blue Flag beach, boat trips, shops, pubs and restaurants and Durlston Country Park. It also boasts Swanage Steam Railway - the perfect way to enjoy the breathtaking scenery along the 6-mile track. The walled Saxon town of Wareham, with its weekly market, many individual shops and quayside is also worth a visit, and close by is the RSPB nature reserve at Arne. Great days out for the family include Bovington Tank Museum, Monkey World and Weymouth Sealife Centre. Golf, tennis, riding and watersports are within easy reach. Village shops and pubs within walking distance. Shop 500 yards.
