Within easy walking distance lies the heart of Lyme Regis with its narrow streets, restaurants and shops, or the sandy beach, picturesque harbour and Cobb, made famous by the setting of the film The French Lieutenant’s Woman. There are water activities such as boat trips, fishing, swimming, diving, sailing and wind surfing, fossil hunting along the Jurassic Coast, and exhilarating coastal walking on the coastal path with its beautiful scenery, particularly from the top of Golden Cap with its commanding views over Lyme Bay from Portland to Torquay. There are many attractions within easy driving to visit, ranging from Forde Abbey and Gardens, Cricket St Thomas Wildlife Park, Crealey Adventure Park, Abbotsbury Swannery and Sub Tropical Gardens, or days out exploring Weymouth, Dorchester, Sherborne and Exeter cathedral, city capital of the south west.
