Goathland is situated at the heart of the North York Moors National Park in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, famous for its connections with the TV series Heartbeat and the black faced sheep that mingle amongst the visitors. More than 100 years old, these two stone-built holiday cottages are located down a quiet lane, a short stroll from the village centre, pubs, inns, tea rooms and quaint little shops that surround the village green. Curlew Cottage (ITA) has been lovingly refurbished to a high standard with a beautiful south-facing garden, whilst Orchard Cottage (ITB) is a charming, detached country cottage.
Bridle paths and cycle ways abound from the doorstep. Discover the pretty villages of the Esk Valley, take the steam train to Pickering and Grosmont, or explore the numerous market towns such as Kirkby Moorside, Helmsley and Malton where the cobbled streets are lined with antique and curio shops and friendly locals wait to greet you. Meander along the winding roads of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park and discover some of the pretty villages tucked away deep in the valleys. There is an abundance of historic castles, abbeys and fishing villages in the surrounding moors and nearby coast. The historic port of Whitby, known for its connections with Captain James Cook, is a 20-minute drive with its colourful harbour, cobbled streets and long sandy beach. Discover the smugglers coves of Robin Hoods Bay, Runswick Bay and Staithes. The area boasts numerous good pubs, restaurants and shops specialising in local food. For family days out, Flamingo Land theme park and zoo and the Dalby Forest visitor centre are a short drive away. Shops 500 yards.
