Description

A superb detached holiday cottage with pretty countryside views, this extensively refurbished (2007) former farmhouse provides an idyllic location in the stunning Gilpin Valley. There are walks and cycle paths from the door, whilst for the more energetic the challenge of the Lake District Fells such as The Langdale Pikes and the Old Man of Coniston are a short drive away. Only 4 miles from Lake Windermere and Bowness with boutiques, galleries, tea rooms, pubs, watersports and ferries to Hawkshead, Coniston and the Grizedale Forest. The cruisers at Bowness offer trips round Lake Windermere, a more leisurely way to enjoy the wonderful scenery, calling at Ambleside to the north or Lakeside to the south to visit the fascinating Aquarium of the Lakes. Historic houses with lovely grounds such as Holker Hall and Sizergh Castle are nearby, whilst a day out to Muncaster Castle or the South Lakes Wild Animal Park at Dalton are not to be missed. Beatrix Potter, Wordsworth and other famous authors found the Lake District truly inspirational and there are many locations where their history and works are interestingly displayed. The nearby historic market town of Kendal has an art gallery, castle, theatre and larger shops as well as pretty walks along the river Kent. Whichever direction you walk or drive in this most beautiful area will bring you to breathtaking views of the lakes and mountains. Shops 3 miles, pub 1 mile.
