Attractions in the village include the Grave of Gelert (the legendary dog which saved the son of Prince Llewelyn) and the Sygun Copper Mine, as well as being an ideal base for walking and climbing in Snowdonia and mountain biking in Beddgelert forest. The station for the Welsh Highland Railway (opened in 2009) is within walking distance and the Ffestiniog and Snowdon Mountain Railways are both within easy reach.
