Nestling in a sheltered position, in its own mature garden with glorious views over Luce Bay towards Port William, Changue Farmhouse is a beautifully proportioned period farmhouse, set in some 500 acres of its own spectacular Galloway countryside. The house is light and airy with spacious rooms and is comfortably furnished. There is an efficient wood-burning stove in the roomy kitchen/dining-room and a well-equipped games room with both snooker, table tennis and a piano - perfect for those wetter days. The elegant living room is the perfect place to sit and read or watch TV. Take a walk over the farm and thrill to the sound of the skylarks. Choose the right moment and see the badger family playing near their sett and the numerous wild hares browsing amongst the gorse bushes.
On a clear day, the Isle of Man is clearly visible to the south, whilst from the hill to the north of the farm, the views to the hills behind Newton Stewart are superb. Keen gardeners will enjoy the gardens at Glenwhan, Castle Kennedy and the Logan Gardens near Stranraer. From Stranraer a ferry can be caught to visit Ireland. Bookworms can get lost in nearby Wigtown - Scotland’s official book town, which also has a charming art gallery, excellent cafés and is only a few miles from the distillery at Bladnoch, where visitors can sample the local malt. The Bladnoch Inn can supply information on local fishing and country sports. Golfers will feel at home on the links by the sea at nearby Monreith, one of many local courses. Changue has its own early Christian settlement site at Barhobble on the north eastern side of the farm, adjacent to the House of Elrig, which is where Gavin Maxwell, author of Ring of Bright Water once lived. The spectacular scenery at Glen Trool in the Galloway Forest Park, north of Newton Stewart is not to be missed. Pony trekking is nearby at Glenluce. Shop 4 miles.
