Description

This attractive detached Victorian country house makes the ideal holiday home, and is located in a secluded and peaceful rural setting. Accessed by a rough track, it enjoys spectacular views over the South Ayrshire countryside and the Stinchar Valley and is situated approximately 5 miles from the conservation village of Barr.
The Galloway Forest Park and Glentrool are located nearby and make up one of the 7 stanes (these are seven mountain biking centres sretching from the heart of the Scottish Borders to Dumfries and Galloway). Here a wealth of outdoor pursuits are on offer - including highly regarded walking, pony trekking and mountain biking. It has marked trails and access to the Merrick, South West Scotland’s highest mountain. Culzean Castle and Country Park, a favourite with visitors, is close by. Perched on a rocky promentory, it overlooks the Firth of Clyde and is set in over 500 acres of woodland and includes formal gardens. Its armoury houses one of the most important collections of arms in existence.
Ayrshire is renowned for its many golf courses including the world famous facilities at Turnberry (10 miles) and Royal Troon. There is a popular racecourse in Ayr and there is exceptional yachting facilities at the marinas in Troon, Largs and Inverkip. There are many opportunities here during a holiday for game sports with some of South West Scotland’s best salmon and trout fishing available in the areas lochs and rivers. The market town of Ayr (20 miles) has excellent amenities including shopping and many sport and leisure facilities. Shops 5 miles, pub 8 miles.
