Description

This unique, detached Grade II listed mill conversion, renovated and restored to its original glory, is set in a quiet countryside location between Fowey and Lostwithiel, and is adjacent to The Cow Barn (TG7). Built in the 1800s and once used to grind the corn, the original water wheel is now restored to full working order once again. Viewed through the safety glass window incorporated in the living room, it presents a wonderful ambience, perfect for a dinner party talking point. Lostwithiel, the Medieval Capital of Cornwall, is just 1½ miles and has an interesting heritage, tucked away in the Fowey Valley, hidden by richly wooded hills and surrounded by the loveliest inland scenery in Cornwall. The quiet and peaceful town has become the antiques centre of the county. Its many antique shops, regular fairs, markets and auctions draw people from far and wide. Excellent food can also be found in the selection of inns, restaurants and cafes. A leisurely stroll can be taken through the riverside parks and picnic by the water’s edge whilst watching the abundance of bird life, or fishing for salmon and trout can be enjoyed. Lower downstream, sea bass and flounder can be caught. For the more energetic, there is a splendid golf course, with swimming-pool, tennis courts, gym, squash and badminton. A short drive away are the Eden Project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan and Lanhydrock House (NT), not to mention the scenic coastal path and the many sandy coves and beaches. Shops and pub 1½ miles.

Four steps to entrance. Spacious, beamed open plan living/dining room with wood-burning stove and internal glass window overlooking water wheel. Large well-equipped farmhouse-style kitchen area with range and double Belfast sink. High-pitched ceilings, exposed timbers and wooden floor throughout upper ground floor. Three steps down to double bedroom (The Granary) with 6ft 6in zip & link bed, high pitched ceiling, door to garden, and en-suite shower room with toilet. Lower ground floor: Two double bedrooms, each with 6ft 6in zip & link beds; one (The Bull Pen) with exposed rafters and high pitched ceiling, French doors to patio, and one (The Stables) with exposed beams, wooden floor, shuttered windows and wet room with toilet. Separate bathroom with over-bath shower and toilet. Utility.
