Straddling the River Eamont at the head of Ullswater, Pooley Bridge is graced by its 16th century bridge and its wide main street is lined with quaint gift shops, tea shops and tourist services, which look over the lake.

A popular pastime is to take a steamer from Pooley Bridge, leave the steamer at Howtown and walk to Glenridding – one of Wordsworth’s favourite walks – offering spectacular views of the lake and Helvellyn. Penrith is only 5 miles away and offers a wealth of facilities including restaurants, museums, theatre and bird centre. There is a garage at the property which is also suitable for drying wet sailing and walking gear.
