River fishing is available with day passes available in Sanquhar, as are many interesting walks for the less ambitious walker. For the golf enthusiast there are many local golf courses and the area is also very popular with walkers, due in part to the Southern Upland Way passing nearby. One of the favourite walks is the Euchan Walk and if you are lucky you will see the salmon leaping in this tributary of the Nith.
