Bustling Windermere is just 3.5 miles across the lake on the ferry, Hawkshead 2.5 miles and the Grizedale Forest with fascinating nature trails, cycle tracks and the ’Go Ape’ experience is 3.5 miles. Coniston Old Man and the central mountains are all within a short drive.
