The ancient market town of Appleby is approximately 6 miles away and is on the Settle to Carlisle Railway. It hosts the famous Appleby Horse Fair (first week of June) and also has a castle, leisure centre with swimming pool and interesting shops.

The Lake District is within half an hour’s drive, whilst the beauty of the Eden Valley is right on the doorstep, and the Pennines and Yorkshire Dales just a short drive away.
